How to Share My Connection with a Hotspot?

Need to use your phone as a modem to connect your laptop or another device to the internet. Here’s how to enable your mobile hotspot.

🌐 What is a Hotspot?

A hotspot (or tethering) lets you share your phone’s internet via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB uses cellular data (Kolet eSIM or another SIM) to provide connectivity.

✅ Your usual Wi-Fi is unreliable.

✅ You need to connect a non-eSIM device (sharing is caring).

📲 How to Enable Your Hotspot

🍎 For Apple iOS devices

  1. OPEN Settings

  2. TAP Personal Hotspot

  3. TURN ON Allow Others to Join

  4. SET a password to secure your connection

  5. CONNECT from another device using the Wi-Fi name displayed

🤖 For Samsung Android devices

  1. OPEN Settings

  2. SELECT Connections

  3. SELECT Mobile Hotspot and Tethering

  4. TURN ON Mobile Hotspot

  5. TAP ON Configure to set a name and password

  6. CONNECT to this network from another device

👾 For Google Pixel Android devices

  1. OPEN Settings

  2. TAP Network & Internet

  3. SELECT Hotspot & tethering

  4. TURN ON Wi-Fi hotspot

  5. CUSTOMIZE the name and password if needed

  6. CONNECT to this network from another device

🔴 For Redmi Android devices

  1. OPEN Settings

  2. SELECT Portable hotspot

  3. TURN ON Portable hotspot

  4. CUSTOMIZE the name and password if needed in Set up portable hotspot

📱 Using your Kolet eSIM on an iPad? Set the APN first

👉 This is for when your Kolet eSIM is installed on your iPad and you want to use that iPad as a hotspot to share its own connection with other devices. It is not about connecting an iPad to another phone’s hotspot.

On iPad, the Personal Hotspot option can be missing (or show “To enable Personal Hotspot on this account, contact Carrier”) until you set the APN. Here is how to turn it on:

  1. OPEN Settings > Cellular Data

  2. Under Cellular Plans, TAP your Kolet plan, then TAP APN Settings

  3. In the Cellular Data section, type internet in the APN field (leave Username and Password empty)

  4. In the Personal Hotspot section, type internet in the APN field as well (again, leave Username and Password empty)

  5. GO BACK to Cellular Data: Personal Hotspot now appears

  6. TAP Personal Hotspot, turn on Allow Others to Join, and set a Wi-Fi password

💡 Pro Tip: If Personal Hotspot still does not show up, close the Settings app fully and reopen it (or restart your iPad) after saving the APN.
