What is International Calls on Kolet?
International Calls on Kolet lets you make voice calls directly from the Kolet app using the internet, whether you're at home or traveling abroad. It's perfect for reaching hotels, restaurants, tour operators, customer support lines, or anyone internationally without needing a local SIM card or expensive roaming. You can also call local numbers if you need to.
There are two ways to make calls with Kolet:
Option 1: Using Your Kolet eSIM
If you have a Kolet eSIM installed and active, you can use internet-based calling apps like:
📱 WhatsApp calls
💬 Messenger calls
📞 FaceTime
📞 Viber calls
And other internet calling apps
These calls use your Kolet data plan and work through the apps themselves.
Option 2: Using International Calls on Kolet
International Calls on Kolet allows you to call regular phone numbers directly from the Kolet app:
☎️ Call any landline or mobile number worldwide
💰 No Kolet eSIM required, works with any internet connection
📱 Make calls directly in the Kolet app
💸 Pay only with Kolet Koins
When to use International Calls on Kolet:
You need to call a regular phone number (not a WhatsApp/Messenger contact)
You don't have a Kolet eSIM but want to make international calls
You want to call someone who doesn't use internet calling apps
You need to reach businesses like hotels, tour operators, or local services
Key features:
🌍 Call any international phone number
💰 Pay only with Kolet Koins (100 Koins = €1)
📱 No eSIM required, just internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
💸 See the cost per minute before calling
⏱️ Know exactly how long you can talk based on your balance
Important Limitations
❌ No Phone Number Assigned
Kolet does not assign a personal phone number to your eSIM. When you make a call, the person you're calling will see a temporary number linked to Kolet.
❌ Cannot Receive Incoming Calls
International Calls on Kolet are outbound only. You can make calls to others, but you can't receive incoming calls through Kolet. That means people cannot call you back on this feature. It's designed specifically for making calls when you need them, not for receiving them.
These numbers are typically used for services that may incur additional charges and are not supported by Kolet.
How to Make a Call
Step 1: Open the Calls Tab
Open the Kolet app and navigate to the Calls tab. (Make sure your app is up to date)
Step 2: Enter the Phone Number
Enter the phone number you want to call (you can use the country tab if you want to double-check the country code)
The app will automatically show you:
🌍 Destination country
💰 Rate per minute
⏱️ Maximum number of minutes you can talk with your current balance
Example: If you have €8 in Koins and the destination costs €0.23 per minute, you can talk for approximately 34 minutes.
Step 3: Grant Microphone Permission
When making your first call, you'll need to allow microphone access:
A system alert will appear requesting microphone permission
Tap Allow to grant access
If you accidentally denied permission, the app will redirect you to your phone settings to enable it manually
Step 4: Tap the Green Call Button
Once you've verified the rate and have sufficient balance, tap the green call button to start your call.
⚠️ The person you call will see a temporary number linked to Kolet. This number is used for outbound calls only and cannot receive incoming calls, so they won’t be able to call you back.
