📱 Is my device eSIM compatible?
Updated over 2 months ago

To access our services, you need an eSIM compatible device. Whether your device is eSIM compatible, depends on the device manufacturer (Apple, Samsung, Huawei just to name a few...) and the version of the device you have.

There are 3 ways to know if your device is eSIM compatible:

  • Access our app and if you see an error screen prompting like the one below, then your device is unfortunately not eSIM compatible, and you will not be able to use our services. However, we would love to see you again whenever you purchase a new device that is eSIM compatible

  • You can search your device on our list of eSIM compatible devices (we update the list every month) and confirm if your device is eSIM compatible

🍎 For Apple iOS devices

  1. OPEN the Settings

  2. TAP Cellular or Mobile Data

  3. CHECK if there is an Add eSIM or Add Cellular Data

If Add "eSIM" or "Add Cellular Data" is available, your device should be eSIM compatible. 🎉

For other Apple iOS devices:

  1. DIAL *#06# and PRESS the call button

If you can view your device eSIM unique identification number (EID), your device should be eSIM compatible. 🎉

⚠️ In the case it is not working, it could be linked to the fact your iPhone model originates from China mainland, Hong Kong or Macao.

💡 You can check this by:

  1. OPEN the Settings

  2. TAP General

  3. TAP About

  4. TAP the Model Number until it changes to an AXXXX combination

Once the model number is located, you can check the region via this article: here

⚠️ Next step is to confirm that your device is not carrier-locked

🤖For Android devices

  1. OPEN the Settings

  2. TAP Connections or Network & Internet

  3. TAP SIM Manager or SIMs

If Add eSIM or download a SIM instead? Is available, your device should be eSIM compatible. 🎉

⚠️ Next step is to confirm that your device is not carrier-locked.

For other Android devices:

  1. DIAL *#06# and PRESS the call button

  2. If you can view your device eSIM unique identification number (EID), your device should be eSIM compatible. 🎉

The device is considered compatible when the feature android.hardware.telephony.euicc is enabled on the given device.

The list can be obtained here if you have access to the Google play console.

⚠️This is not all, we also recommend you to validate that your smartphone is not locked to a specific carrier by reading this article. Most of the devices that are carrier-locked are usually the ones that you purchased directly from a mobile operator, and the mobile operator has a locking policy for the device (because of the lease that is associated to it).

If your device is eSIM compatible and carrier-unlocked, then good news - you are now ready to purchase, activate and use our services. 🎉

If your device does not support eSIM technology, you may need to consider purchasing an eSIM adapter. 5ber offers these adapters, which enable devices without built-in eSIM compatibility to access eSIM services. Once purchased, the adapter only needs to be installed once. After installation, you'll be able to seamlessly utilize Kolet services and enjoy the convenience of eSIM functionality on your device.

Get instant 24/7 support from our assistant, or connect with one of our expert agents on the Kolet app- They will be delighted to assist you! ✨
